Sandstone
and Sea Shells Shaggy Rug
Chris Gustin
Retail: $360
Opening Bid: $175
This rug was hand-woven on a Swedish countermarche loom from upholstery
selvedges in shades of brown, cream, rust and gold. It measures 56” x 88”
and is bound on two ends. The colors were hand-selected prior to weaving to
create a segue from one tone to another, allowing the rug to blend with many
decors. Chris specializes in making hand-woven rugs from recycled
material. Most of the supplies used for the rugs are byproducts of other
industries, where they are considered "scrap." Our mission
is to keep this usable material from the waste stream. We do custom
spinning, dyeing and weaving and work with clients and interior decorators to
create special pieces of art.

Crown
of Leaves Lamp
Anne Ryan Miller
Retail: $595
Opening bid: $297.50
Stained glass lamp with metal overlay design on a “Tree Trunk” base. By
using a metal overlay technique, Anne hand-cuts very intricate designs. Using
landscape and wildlife motifs, she creates a pictorial effect. By applying the
metal on the front and back of opalescent glass, Anne achieves an enormous
amount of depth. By allowing the natural light to diffuse around the metal from
the backside, she obtains a shadowy, misty effect, allowing the front to display
a tantalizingly strong silhouette. This is an original and unusual technique.
Trail
Number Nine –
Brown
County
State Park
Daren Pitts Redman
Retail: $900
Opening bid: $500
This photo taken on trail nine in October 2005 inspired my rotary cutting motif
in the blocks. Hand-dyed cottons by Daren and Luan Fabrics. Daren became
very familiar with using fabrics and patterns from a young age. A few years ago,
she took a quilting class and loved her quilts so much that she decided to
display them on art canvas. When she isn’t working in her big, red barn studio
she likes to play her violin, play with her cats, and on weekends, she and her
husband bike at least 50 miles.

“Brown
County
Maple
Leaves”
George Goehl
Retail: $245
Opening bid: $125
This wall sculpture is comprised of flame colored copper and brass leaves.
The size works well above a mantel or couch. The tools George uses for
metal working were in existence a hundred years ago. Cutting, bending and
shaping are all done by hand. The main process used for joining metals is
brazing. Heating the metal till it is red hot and melting bronze rod into the
joints. When the bronze cools the two pieces are fixed in place. Each gold or
yellow bit of metal you’ll see on one of my pieces has been brazed. The time
difference between the right time and the wrong time to add the bronze is the
blink of the eye. It’s more a matter of "feeling" rather than
"knowing".
